Habits
A habit is a routine or behaviour that we repeat regularly often without thinking about it. The brain uses habits to relieve symptoms of stress or anxiety. E.g. nail biting may be a habitual resolution to an anxiety. Some habits are harmless and are not detrimental to our lives, but some can affect our appearance, are socially inappropriate orĀ are simply just annoying.
Because habits are formed from the subconscious, hypnotherapy is an ideal tool to help people to affect a change in their behaviour. Examples of habits include:
- Nail biting
- Thumb sucking
- Coughing
- Smoking
