Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
If you have been diagnosed by your doctor as having IBS, and have not had the relief you seek, then hypnotherapy may be for you.
IBS is an extremely common digestive disorder and is defined as a “functional bowel disorder” that presents with a wide variety of symptoms including abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhoea or constipation. The condition can greatly affect the sufferer’s quality of life – personal relationships, social life and work life can be affected, as well as confidence and self esteem.
Research carried out by leading gastroenterologist, Professor Peter Whorwell, Manchester, suggests that hypnotherapy can help relieve the debilitating symptoms of IBS.
Professor Roland Valori of the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and editor of the journal Frontline Gastroenterology explains (Article: March 2010) that the underlying cause of IBS is a sensitive gut. Treatments such as eliminating certain foodstuffs can help alleviate the symptoms, but normally only for a short time. He has found that hypnotherapy is one of the best ways to treat IBS. His experience of using it on IBS patients showed that it significantly improved symptoms. "It is pretty clear to me that it has an amazing effect," he said.
Your symptoms no longer need to control you; hypnotherapy can help you to take back control of your own body....your life, to begin a journey that will equip you to move away from the symptoms and thoughts of IBS.
My IBS programme consists of 3-5 sessions with a CD provided at each session for you to work with between sessions.
